And, just like that, another Christmas has passed! The tree is down, the lights are stored, and the Christmas decor is put away in the garage, waiting for next year. Our pre-Christmas spirit felt a bit short this year, oh, wait, I mean last year. 🙂 I still can’t believe it’s 2017 already!!! 🙂
We were visiting family in Germany and didn’t get back to the states untilearly December. Normally, I like to put up our tree around Thanksgiving to get into the Christmas spirit. But, this season, we had a late start since we had five suitcases to unpack and were dealing with
jet lag. My girls, on the other hand, had their priorities straight. My oldest asked me to decorate the tree, two days into being home, and I couldn’t say no. So, the suitcases were pushed into the hallway, and the tree and all other decorations came out of the garage. Let the magic begin!
Holidays feel so much more special with kids. They are now a bit older and get very excited about Christmas, which makes me very excited, having little elf helpers around the house. Christmas is my favorite time of the year. There is nothing better than sitting and sipping hot chocolate and eating cookies by the tree and watching Christmas movies and reading Christmas books to our girls. Can you tell I love Christmas?! Ha!
Last night I went through my phone, and I saw the Christmas pictures again and thought I would share our Christmas memories with you. 🙂
Before I had kids, I decorated mostly in just silver or gold, but, ever since the girls came along, I make it a bit more colorful for them. On the hanging wall console, I like to display their first Santa photos. Surprisingly, they were happy when they saw Santa, and they did not cry. 🙂 !
Below are more pictures of some decorations throughout the living room and kitchen.
And, of course, we had a visit from our elf. The girls couldn’t decide on a name yet. On some days, it was just called “the elf,” and, on other days, it was Chippy. On some nights, Chippy moved from one location to another, and, on other nights, he was very busy baking in the kitchen or building towers in the playroom 🙂 It all depended on how much energy Mommy elf had 🙂
My table setting was an inspiration from the Crate & Barrel catalog this year.
On Christmas Eve morning, my girls got a surprise picture from the elf, which, of course, he brought back from the North Pole 🙂 They found out that Santa was REALLY watching them! And, on Christmas Eve, they got their first gift from Santa, new PJs. 🙂
Before the angels went off to bed, they put out a plate for Santa – a carrot for Santa’s reindeer and a cookie for Santa that we had baked earlier that day. And look who showed up in the middle of the night! 😉
Christmas morning couldn’t come soon enough…
They are small children but they know how to open their presents within seconds. Ha! I also snapped a few pictures of some of the food we had throughout the day…
I wish I could freeze time. Going picture through picture on my phone and seeing my girls, comparing them to the pictures from past Christmases, makes me smile and tear up at the same time. Time flies by so fast, but I will keep these memories forever.
It just made me think of a quote I came across not too long ago that was something like “Time is precious. Waste it wisely!”
