Seriously, how is it Monday already!? I don’t know how this happened, but this past week flew by so quickly. We took the girls to Disney World, and we all had so much fun. We were exhausted, but all very happy. Seeing their eyes light up when they saw Mickey is the best thing ever, and it makes you forget about all the other cranky moments during our travel. I’m sure it’s not a secret to you that traveling with toddlers can be a bit difficult :-).
After we made it home, I had many suitcases to unpack and lots of laundry to do. Before we had kids, we would travel with one suitcase, two at the most. Now, we travel with 3-4 suitcases and many other assorted bags 🙂
Anyway, before we left for Disney, I got a few really neat “goodies” delivered from Amazon and The Container Store for my next organization project. So, while I was doing laundry, I sneaked in a little makeover project for my under-the-kitchen-sink cabinet, while Mister and the girls were outside playing. Believe it or not, I cannot go a week without organizing something. 🙂 Crazy, right!? 🙂
I took everything out and washed down the cabinet really well. I tossed some old cleaning tools and a lot of cleaning bottles, as they were almost empty and were just taking up space. I grouped related items together, such as cleaning tools, sponges, dish soap, etc.
I was super excited about the grocery bag dispenser I discovered online. Finally, a product that would help me keep the grocery bags neatly organized in one place. Simply mount it to the cabinet wall with screws or adhesive tape.
Doesn’t it look so much neater? 😉 To protect my cabinets, I reused my old, clear, non-adhesive shelf liner from IKEA.
I put both of my cabinet doors to work. I attached the clear spice rack with Command Strips on the left door to hold my dish brush and disposable gloves, and the self-adhesive hook was holding my squeegee. Do you wonder why I have a squeegee in my kitchen? 🙂 I don’t use it on my windows. I use it to get a streak-free glass cooktop. I wash my cooktop with dish soap and water and then use my squeegee. Voila! Streak-free cooktop.
The left door holds two paper towel holders that are very lightweight and nothing Command Strips couldn’t handle. One holds the paper towel roll, and I use the second holder to dry my dishwashing gloves that I always forget to wear :-).
The three clear stackable bins hold my sponges, dishwasher tablets and cleaning cloths. I love that you can stack them and take advantage of the tight space. Also, using clear bins helps me to keep track of how many sponges and tablets I have left.
Do you see this gray thing on top of the clear bins? It is an over-the-sink, roll-up drying rack.
I absolutely love this drying mat. It saves space and lets your dishes air dry. Once dried, you can roll it up and store it under your sink. Genius, right!? 🙂
I use the two clear bins to hold my dish soap bottles and the second one to hold our garbage bag roll and disinfecting wipes. The bins make it easier to reach things from the back by pulling the bin forward. If you wonder why I have so many dish soap bottles, it is because I use Amazon’s Subscribe & Save program, and it comes in a pack of six bottles 🙂
Did you see the fire extinguisher? This is my hubby’s doing and according to him is a must for every kitchen.
This wasn’t too difficult, was it? 🙂
Have a great day and happy organizing!
