The day, or I should probably say the last night, started out to be slightly chaotic. Hubby arriving late from business travels, and Kate, my oldest (3), waking up in tears in the middle of the night because of some super-duper, imaginary, large spiders in her bedroom. I gave in and took her into our bedroom… BIG MISTAKE :-)Kate was prepared for deep and long conversations about why the sun doesn’t shine at night, why Daddy snores, why our A/C makes noise, why why why… you get the picture. Unfortunately, we had to get up early because she started a Saturday school program and was super excited to go. The entire Saturday turned out to be very lazy and somewhat unproductive. My little one was extremely clingy that day, hubby was getting the flu, I was tired, and my plans of doing laundry and organizing the pantry fell by the wayside. I did manage to make a quick dinner, though, and my ground beef, butternut squash and zucchini pasta one-pot meal turned out to be really yummy! Super quick and easy too! Give it a
try, guys! Towards the end of the day, when everyone placed themselves in front of the TV to watch our most beloved show, “Mickey Mouse Clubhouse” :-), I was itching to find a home for my newly acquired little boxes from IKEA. For those of you who don’t know me and haven’t figured it out by now, organizing helps me to relax, like a glass of red wine at the end of the day! 🙂 What a nerd, I know!
There was one drawer in my kitchen that wasn’t really messy, but it was not something I was entirely thrilled with. Have a look:
The first thing I always do is empty the entire drawer on my kitchen island and place similar items in a group. This helps me to get an overview of things that don’t belong in there, and also discover the things I have too much of and could throw away or find a different home for.
After I decided what to keep, I placed the little white boxes into the drawer, and, voila! They look like they’ve always belonged there. They are ideal for storing items like muffin cups, cookie stamps and cutters and individual cake pans. I am super excited about the result, and, quite honestly, I wish I could go to back to the store right away and buy more of them to organize more drawers. Ha!
My somewhat unproductive Saturday ended with at least one organized drawer and a happy wife! In fact, I am so motivated now that I believe I will organize my kitchen drawer-by-drawer. So, stay tuned for more stories and photos! Ha! Now I am off to join my crew on the couch before my angels go to bed.
