Talking purse and coupon organization today! I love big bags and I cannot lie … (ha ha… just started thinking of a song after I typed that, I bet you did too?! 😉 ) …. Okay, back to the bags! 😉 They look good and you can fit a lot in them, but they can easily become a black hole.
I can never find my keys and phone because of all the little random things in my bag. Plus, I use my purse for my girls’ stuff as well, like their crackers, water bottles, crayons, etc.
Enough was enough! I dumped everything on our kitchen island and sorted out the contents. I thought if I used zippered pouches, they would help me contain my purse clutter and I would find things more quickly. Plus, it would be so much easier to spot trash in my bag, such as Cheerios or hardened Playdough pieces… please don’t ask 🙂
I found these clear pouches at the Container Store for $ 1.99. They are sturdy and of good quality. One pouch holds the bandages, contact solution, small clippers, floss, alcohol pads, ibuprofen, etc. And the other pouch now holds my hair brush, lip gloss, hand lotion, Blistex®, etc. So, all the loose ends finally found a home.
Now that this problem is tackled, let’s move on to my next problem child, my coupons. Oh, and by the way, I am not talking about grocery coupons. I cannot keep track of them at all. But what I do love are clothing coupons and coupons from Williams Sonoma, Sur la Table, Bed Bath and Beyond, etc.. I just didn’t have a good system for them. In the past, I would put them in a huge Ziploc® bag and forget them at home. If I remembered to bring them with me, I would just embarrass myself at the register. It would take me forever to find the right coupon, and, if I was lucky enough to find it, it was most likely already expired.
So, when my mom visited us last year, she suggested I use one of those small accordion folders. Wow! That is genius! That was it! I went out to Office Depot and bought one folder that had 12 pockets! Here is a similar folder. I created custom labels with Post-it® flags for stores I shop at most often, and I made sure to include a label for receipts. I toss most of my receipts, but hang on to some in case I need to return something.
Alright, friends, we are almost done here! There is just a one tiny problem left—my reward cards. I tried keeping them in my wallet, but there were too many to fit inside a wallet pocket. Also, I didn’t like to have dozens of reward cards on my keyring.
I remembered reading a magazine that suggested an app for storing all your reward cards on your iPhone. Yep! After a quick search, I had found “Stocard – Reward Cards Wallet.”’. I LOVE it! It is easy, fast, and, most importantly, it freed up my wallet. All you have to do is scan in the bar code on your reward card with your camera. It is free and doesn’t require registration! I’ve used it for over a year now, and it is AWESOME! Try it and you’ll see! You’re welcome! 🙂
Voila! The bag is organized! Don’t you love organized bags!? 🙂
